The Three Visits
This piece was created during lockdown in 2020 and is about my personal experience of having to visit a loved one, behind glass.
During that time, I watched, helplessly, the daily changes, and could only guess what lay behind them as the virus and isolation took their toll.
The experience led me to a time of unexpected creativity as I harnessed the memories into gentle porcelain sculptures, resulting in three pieces, individually entitled: Decline, Collapse, Release.
I dedicate 'The Three Visits' to all who have visited and been visited remotely, to all who could not do even this, and to my mother.
This piece has been selected by the Royal Ulster Academy of Arts for its 139th annual exhibition at Ulster Museum, Belfast.
